Rio 2016 :Nigerian tennis star Aruna Quadri was on Tuesday, August 9 knocked out of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by world number one, Long Ma.



Quadri has been impressive in the games ,  beating fifth seeded player Chih-Yuan Chuang in the third round and German Boll Timo in the fourth to make it to the quarter-finals.

In the quarter-finals, he met world number one Ma who effectively put him off with a 4-0 win.

Quadri started calmly but Ma dominated the game to dispatch the Nigerian in straight sets 11-4, 11-2, 11-6, 11-7.

Ma outclassed Quadri in the first game and also dominated the second which Quadri got just two points.

In the last two games, the Nigerian returned stronger but that wasn’t enough as Ma’s experience saw him through.

The whole game lasted just 28 minutes. Ma will now face Jun Mizutani of Japan in the semifinals on Thursday, August 11.
